in the stores
the rich women buy toys.

Pedro, the shoeshine boy
sees in the windows
the planes, cars, dolls,
and guns brought from the United States
and which he cannot afford.

Rosa,
The enchilada-seller
gave to her three-year-old daughter
a rag doll which she brought from Masaya.

In Maria`s house’
the tots with their whistles make the barrio merry
Poor children celebrate Christmas.


Obs: enchilada is a food make of cornbread.
Masaya is a city in Nicaragua. There is a big market with a lot of toys made of Indians.
